MY STORY

Hi, I’m Dana, the proud founder of Dana’s Macarons. My journey is one that’s deeply rooted in passion, persistence, and a love for celebrating cultural flavours through the art of baking.

I was born in Sri Lanka and raised in Dubai, where I grew up surrounded by the vibrant spices of my Sri Lankan heritage and the indulgent sweetness of Middle Eastern desserts. In 2009, I moved to the UK, and that opened my eyes to the world of classic British bakes. All of these influences have shaped the way I approach baking today—bringing together bold, familiar flavours with refined techniques.

My love for macarons started quite unexpectedly. One day, I decided to bake a batch, even though I had never tried making them before. To my surprise, they turned out beautifully. I would call it love at first sight!

Of course, it didn’t stay that easy. Perfecting the macaron took time. From getting the shell texture just right to creating perfectly balanced fillings, every detail mattered—and I had to learn it all on my own. It was a steep learning curve, but I gave it my all. I experimented, I failed, I learned, and I improved with every single batch. Over time, what once felt overwhelming became something I genuinely loved mastering.

Baking, for me, comes naturally. It’s not just macarons that bring me joy—baking as a whole is something I truly enjoy. That passion has led me to expand our offerings beyond macarons, and I’m excited to now include delicate, buttery madeleines in our range.

I’m proud to say I’m a self-taught baker. Today, I create premium, handcrafted treats for those looking for a little bite of luxury. Every flavour I offer reflects part of my journey—my heritage, my memories, and my passion.

And if my creations manage to bring a smile to your face or satisfy your sweet tooth, then I know I’ve done my job well.
